On Thursday, July 1st., Pickthorn and I came to see

you at the Colonial Office on the subject of the Report of

the Official Committee on Hong Kong University, with its

proposed drastic cuts reducing the University and Medical

School to impotence. You then hoped for Professor Davies

and his colleague Mr. France, of Hong Kong University, to

meet your Advisory Education Committee on the following

Monday, or to meet your officials personally on the subject.
